Job Introduction

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, and caring person to fulfil the role of Learning Support Assistant in our Year 1 class, with a specific child who has an Education and Health Care Plan for Communication & Interaction Needs.

Our children are keen to learn, and we have high expectations. The school has a warm family feel, with strong links within the community and our attached church.  

You will be working closely with the current Year 1 class team and SENDCo to support the child’s social and emotional development, as well as their academic needs. 

 

We wish to appoint someone who:

 

  • Is calm, patient and kind, and can build positive relationships with specific children
  • Is committed to supporting individual children’s learning, by using initiative and collaborating with the class team
  • Be able to support a child on a 1:1 capacity, and sometimes in a group 
  • Be able to support with creative learning that is tailored to meet the needs of an individual from their starting point
  • Has good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Has experience of working within a school, or with a child who has Autism / social communication difficulties
  • Has experience of developing children’s social, emotional and wellbeing needs through use of a child centred approach and co- regulation strategies
  • Maintains high expectations of the pupil and advocates for their needs

 

This is a fixed term position to start as soon as possible until the end of Summer Term 2025.
