Job/Person Summary

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who has had experience of supporting children with complex SEND and behaviour needs. The successful candidate would join our friendly school team where we aim to enable children to achieve more than they ever thought possible, provide them with experiences that help to shape their future and support them in making a difference to the world.

Candidates must be competent in their understanding of National Curriculum needs and have experience of supporting phonics, reading and behaviour.

We have two posts on offer, which means that a successful candidate can opt to work either part time (8:45 - 12:45 or 12:45 - 3:15), of full time.

The successful candidates will: 

  • have experience of supporting children with their learning and development
  • have experience of supporting children with interaction, communication and behaviour needs
  • use specialist skills to support pupils
  • have excellent communication skills, relating well to children, colleagues and parents
  • work well as part of a team
  • be able to work independently, proactively, and with initiative 
  • demonstrate dedication, empathy and resilience
  • be confident in their understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures

Role / responsibilities, include:

  1. Working with individual or groups of children
  2. Support with behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with the teacher
  3. Help implement lesson plans
  4. Provide feedback to pupils in conjunction with the teacher
  5. Detect signs of behavioural issues
  6. Assist the teacher to create an appropriate learning environment 
  7. Work with the teacher in adjusting plans and pupil personalised provision
  8. Maintain an awareness of school, national and statutory policies and requirements and apply these in the workplace.
