Job Introduction
We are looking for enthusiastic, organised, experienced and caring people to join our friendly team of staff as soon as possible.
The role will mainly involve supporting an individual child, who has additional needs in their learning (not behavioural), under the direction of the class teacher, as well as providing general classroom assistance as needed.
You must:
- Have empathy with pupils and be sympathetic to their needs
- Have excellent literacy/numeracy skills
- Have well developed interpersonal skills and a good sense of humour, enabling effective relationships with a variety of different people
- Be a team worker
- Be able to use ICT effectively to support learning
- Demonstrate good communication skills and be able to clarify and explain instructions clearly
- Be professionally discrete and able to respect confidentiality on particular issues
In terms of qualifications and experience you will ideally:
- Have a working knowledge of the National Curriculum, particularly English and Maths requirements, and other relevant learning programmes/strategies
- Be trained at least to NVQ3 standard in childcare
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a teaching/learning/child support working environment
The Learning Support Team at Orchard is highly skilled, dedicated and lots of fun so the successful candidate will have plenty of support in a happy environment.
This position is for 2 days per week Mondays and Fridays from 8.30 am until 3.20 pm with 30 minutes for lunch (12.66 hours per week) to support a 1:1 pupil (non behavioural). The position is fixed term for one year.
Salary Range - Grade B £24,027-£24,348 (FTE) salary is pro rata, term time only, actual salary £7,032.
