1:1 Learning Support Assistant for children with vision impairments

Job Introduction


 

This is a unique opportunity to work with a range of pupils with a vision impairment, supporting them in the classroom or OASIS and ensuring that they make good progress alongside their peers.

 

You will need to be:

  • flexible and well-organised
  • aware of the needs of pupils with vision impairment
  • able to use your initiative and think on your feet
  • willing to learn how to adapt and modify learning materials
  • able to make positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • able to support pupils 1:1 or within a group, yet enable them to be as independent as possible
  • an excellent team player

 

Previous experience of working with children with a vision impairment or special needs is desirable but not essential, as you will be fully supported and managed by a Qualified Teacher for Vision Impairment (QTVI).

 

A positive approach to working with children with special needs is essential.
