Job Introduction
We are a friendly and welcoming school and are looking to appoint to our committed and supportive Year R team temporary part time Learning Support Assistants who are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives, especially those with complex needs. We are looking for someone who is flexible in their approach to work across the Foundation Stage and who has a positive ‘can do’ attitude. The successful candidate will be working in the Foundation Stage, supporting a group of children with SEND and/or an EHCP. The group of children have some social, emotional, behavioural and speech difficulties. You will help ensure the children are able to enjoy school and to feel successful, building a firm foundation for the future. You will support the children’s learning and access to the Early Years curriculum under the guidance of our Year R class team and SENDCO, working closely with outside agencies and will involve not only building a positive relationship with the children and class team, but also communicating effectively with the children’s families. At Rowner, we believe that both parents and carers are vital partners in their children’s learning.
We are looking for someone who:
- Preferably has experience of working with children in a school setting, including children with a range of SEND and/or an EHCP
- Has a good level of English and Maths
- Has a good level of spoken English and excellent communication skills
- Ideally has some knowledge of the Early Years curriculum
- Has high expectations of achievement and behaviour for all children
- Has the compassion, commitment and patience to support pupils with a range of abilities
- Is able to think creatively and adapt learning to motivate and meet the needs of all pupils
- Is able to support the pastoral needs of pupils and possess nurturing skills and the ability to be able to be supportive of the development of the child’s social and self-help skills
- Is a team player who can demonstrate good interpersonal skills and has a willingness to learn from the class team
- Is committed to high standards of personal and professional development
- Is able to follow procedures, work flexibly, independently and under own initiative
- Good sense of humour and is enthusiastic.
- The ability to work successfully as part of a teaching team in supporting children’s learning in a school setting will be essential.
- Has a clear understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
