Job Introduction
Haselworth Primary School is a small school in the heart of Gosport, with a caring and supportive ethos. We have happy children, who are eager to learn.
We are seeking to appoint a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant who has previous experience and a passion for working in a primary school. No two days are ever the same in school life so the ability to be flexible is vital! There will be opportunities to work within the whole class, teaching small groups and on a 1:1 basis with individual pupils.

Learning Support Assistants: 8.30am to 3.00pm Monday - Friday. Term time only.
The successful candidates will:
- have a child-centred approach
- be able to build relationships with all children and in particular children with SEND needs
- have the ability to work in an Early Years, KS1 or KS2 setting.
- have the ability to work under pressure and to a timetable
- have experience of working with children with social/communication difficulties in a small group setting.
- have the ability to keep pupils motivated and engaged
- have a calm but firm approach
- be able to adapt and think on your feet
- be flexible and willing to learn
- be able to attune to a child’s emotional needs
- be able to work as part of a team, learning with and from other colleagues
- be able to work independently and on your own initiative
- have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills
- understand confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
The successful candidate will need to have:
- experience of complex behavioral needs
- excellent interpersonal skills
- high expectations of learning
- the ability to work independently and pro-actively
- be patient, calm, well organised and understanding
- have energy, commitment and enthusiasm
- the ability to build positive relationships with children
- experience in SEND preferable but not essential
