Admin Assistant / Press Officer

Job Introduction

We are looking for a friendly, organised and efficient Administrative Assistant to join our welcoming admin team at Winnall Primary School. Winnall Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive school community in Winchester, with enthusiastic children and a dedicated, supportive staff team. As the first point of contact for many parents/carers, visitors and children, you will play a key role in creating a positive and professional front-of-house experience, while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school office.

The hours are Monday 8.30am - 1.30pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm.

 

Your key areas of responsibility will:

  • Managing school administration processes
  • Updating the website and calendar.
  • Assisting with communications to families including emails and newsletters 
  • Acting as the main point of contact for media enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with local and regional media
  • Promoting the organisation’s achievements, events and key messages through the media
  • Working closely with colleagues to identify newsworthy stories and opportunities
  • Ensuring all communications reflect the organisation’s values and ethos
  • Initiating and maintaining a social media presence 

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be highly organised with strong attention to detail, 
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident using IT systems including Microsoft Office
  • Have the skills to demonstrate initiative, resilience and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment, while maintaining confidentiality and supporting safeguarding procedures.
