Job Introduction
Admin Assistant
Poulner Infant School and Nursery
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, friendly and highly organised Admin Assistant to join the team in our busy school office at Poulner Infant School and Nursery.
Poulner Infant School and Nursery is a warm, nurturing and inclusive school where children are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our friendly and supportive staff team and the strong sense of community across our school.
Our vision is to provide the very best opportunities for every child, supporting them to grow into confident, independent and enthusiastic learners. We believe in educating the whole child and work together with a shared commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for all children.
Our school values of Collaboration, Creativity and Challenge underpin the way we work. We collaborate as a team, approach our work with creativity and positivity, and continually challenge ourselves to improve what we provide for our children and families.
The successful candidate will often be the first person that children, families and visitors meet when they come into school. We are therefore looking for someone who is warm, welcoming and approachable, while also being able to remain calm, organised and professional in a busy school environment.
The role would suit someone with school administration experience or someone with strong administrative experience from another setting who is able to transfer their skills to a school environment.
The successful candidate will:
Enjoy working as part of a busy, friendly school community.
Be confident, caring and highly organised, with the ability to remain calm, prioritise effectively and work accurately despite frequent interruptions.
Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues, visitors, contractors and external professionals.
Provide a warm and welcoming reception service as a key first point of contact for the school.
Communicate professionally and sensitively with all stakeholders, including answering telephone calls and preparing and sending emails, letters, messages and newsletters.
Be able to respond appropriately to enquiries, resolving issues where possible or directing them to the appropriate member of staff.
Be confident in solving problems, working collaboratively with colleagues and using initiative when working independently.
Support the monitoring and recording of pupil attendance using Arbor.
Maintain accurate pupil records and support a wide range of school administration, including admissions and school meal arrangements.
Have strong IT skills and be confident using a range of computer systems and school-based applications.
Be confident and caring when supporting pupils with welfare needs, including the administration of first aid and medicines. Appropriate first aid training will be provided.
Be reliable, punctual, adaptable and flexible.
Work efficiently, accurately and in an organised manner.
Understand the importance of confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding.
Be able to manage the practical and physical elements of working within a busy school environment.
Enjoy working somewhere where no two days are quite the same!
The successful candidate will work within a busy office environment and will need to demonstrate excellent time management, patience, resilience and initiative, alongside a genuine desire to provide an excellent service to our pupils, parents, staff and wider school community.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who shares our belief that everyone in school has a part to play in helping our children thrive. We work closely together, support one another and remain focused on our common goal: ensuring that every child at Poulner receives the best possible start to their education.
In return, we can offer you:
Happy, enthusiastic children who are at the centre of everything we do.
A genuinely friendly, supportive and welcoming staff team.
A collaborative working environment where everyone’s contribution is valued.
Support from an experienced leadership team.
Opportunities for training and professional development.
A strong commitment to staff wellbeing.
A nurturing and inclusive school culture.
The opportunity to make a real difference to children and families.
A beautiful school environment with extensive grounds and our own Nursery.
A school that is continually developing and where staff work together with a shared sense of purpose.
If you are someone who is positive, hardworking, approachable and takes pride in providing a high-quality service, we would love to hear from you.
