Job Introduction

St Mary’s Bentworth CE Primary School is a small, rural Church of England school rooted in the values of Love, Respect and Belong. We are looking to recruit an Administration Officer who is welcoming, motivated, highly organised, flexible, numerate and resilient and who enjoys the challenge of working in a busy office environment.  

This is an exciting and lively role at the hub of the school, involving working with staff, pupils and parents alike. The successful candidate will be experienced and skilled in managing a wide range of tasks and leading the office team. They will have the financial background necessary to support the Headteacher in all budgetary and HR matters.

The appointed candidate will:

  • Enjoy working with children in a busy school environment 
  • Have GCSE in Maths and English (Grade C or above) qualifications or equivalent
  • Be confident and proactive in establishing and maintaining administrative systems for a busy school office and leading the office team 
  • Good ICT skills and the ability to produce a range of documents using Microsoft packages 
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) enabling them to communicate calmly and effectively in a warm and professional manner 
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and cope with many interruptions 
  • Use their initiative and thrive through a "can do" approach to resolving problems 
  • Have the highest level of confidentiality 
  • Be prepared to carry out other duties such as first aid and administration of medicines 
  • Knowledge of school software; Arbor, SAP and the IBC would be an advantage 
  • Some experience of financial management would be an advantage 
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and a good sense of humour!
