Apprentice Facilities Manager

Job Introduction

We are looking for a cheerful and adaptable Apprentice Caretaker/Facilities Services to join our existing caretaking team in a busy Secondary School .

The hours are Monday to Friday on a rota between the hours of 7am and 6pm (7am to 2pm and 11am to 6pm)

This role offers the opportunity for someone who is interested in a career in facilities management and is keen to make a difference to the learning environment of our students.

Responsibilities will include the maintenance and security of our school buildings and liaising with contractors undertaking planned maintenance work as part of the Hampshire property services partnership agreement.

The apprenticeship will last for approximately 18months and will teach you all you need to know about managing a school site, including health and safety regulations and practices, compliance checking including legionella, asbestos, fire procedures, use of chemicals etc.

Applicants do not need to be qualified in any maintenance or trade skills but a willingness and aptitude for DIY, hard work and commonsense is essential.

A qualification at GCSE level in English and Maths is desirable but not essential as functional skills can be taught as part of the apprenticeship qualification.

The apprenticeship is taught online and most of our systems are digitised therefore good computer literacy is essential.

This role is offered as a permanent position with an opportunity to progress to the next level, on successful completion of the apprenticeship. Further training and CPD will be given as part of the role and there will be an opportunity to train to L3 and L4 in Facilities management for the right candidate; progressing to the role of site manager.
