The Governors at St. Bede Church of England Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and practical assistant site manager to join our happy and hardworking team. The new post holder will work alongside our experienced senior site manager who will help with training and who will take the lead on specific aspects of the role. 

We are looking for the right person to help manage our site security ad safety, carry out grounds and site maintenance tasks, update risk assessments and ensure operational effectiveness across the school site.  

The successful candidate will have, or develop an awareness of Hampshire County Council and school policies and be prepared to engage with Professional Development ensuring statutory checks and responsibilities are fulfilled. 

The post is for 15 hours per week (7a.m. – 10 a.m. Monday to Friday.) Additional hours may be required by mutual agreement to take account of the changing needs of the school. Interviews will take place on Friday 31st January.

Basic computing, literacy and numeracy skills are essential. (Support and training can be provided.) The role will include occasional working at heights and moving and handling of objects. Training will be provided. 

We are looking for a site manager who will: 

  • Ensure the security of the school buildings and site, liaising with staff, contractors and the local authority as appropriate.
  • Oversee and engage with the cleaning and maintenance of the site. 
  • Undertake minor repairs, maintenance and decorating.
  • Manage contractors as appropriate.
  • Undertake checks and maintain records to meet statutory health and safety requirements e.g. COSHH, writing and reviewing risk assessments and testing fire alarms etc.
  • Liaise with the SLT about lettings and wider use of the site, working flexibly to meet the needs of the children and the school.
  • Have a key holder responsibility and be prepared to attend out of hours emergency call outs.
  • Be a keen team player, flexible and resilient with good communication skills.
  • Take pride in their work and manage their workload through being self-motivated, observant and proactive.
