Balksbury Federation Infant and Junior Schools are seeking a compassionate, proactive and highly organised Community Support Lead (CSL) to help children and families thrive. This is a vital role at the heart of our federated community, providing targeted support to ensure children and families feel safe and secure. You will work closely with families, school staff and external agencies to foster a positive, inclusive and supportive environment. 

About the Role

As our Community Support Lead, you will: 

  • Support children’s wellbeing and emotional development
  • Promote and uphold robust attendance procedures
  • Strengthen home-school relationships
  • Signpost and refer families to external services (e.g. School Nursing Team, Early Help Services)
  • Contribute to a nurturing, safe and aspirational federated culture
  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Established in 2011, Balksbury Federation sits on the outskirts of Andover, close to the A303 and easily accessible from Basingstoke, Winchester and Salisbury.

  • Excellent communication skills (essential): able to build positive, trusting relationships with children, parents and external agencies through clear and empathetic communication
  • Experience supporting families (desirable): able to understand family needs and provide or signpost tailored support
  • Strong organisational and proactive skills (essential): able to plan and deliver support activities while managing competing priorities
  • Patience, empathy and emotional intelligence (essential): able to listen, engage and guide children and families facing challenges
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures (desirable): confident in safeguarding principles and appropriate reporting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (essential): able to manage workload, make day to day decisions and prioritise effectively
  • Competence in IT and administration (desirable): comfortable using systems such as Arbor and Microsoft applications to maintain accurate records and reports
