Behaviour & Mental Health Lead (Fixed Term)

Location: Kings Furlong Junior School, Basingstoke
Contract type: Fixed term for one term (linked to school restructure)
Hours: FTE- 0.6 Wednesday to Friday

Salary: Main Scale M4-M6 (depending on experience)

Start date: September 2026 (or sooner to support transition) 

 

Kings Furlong Junior School is seeking to appoint a committed and experienced Behaviour & Mental Health Lead to support and further develop our whole-school approach to behaviour, mental health and wellbeing.

This is a key role within our school, working closely with senior leaders, staff, pupils and families to make sure all children feel safe, supported and able to succeed.

This post is offered on a fixed-term basis as the school is currently undergoing a period of restructuring. However, there may be future opportunities within the school for the right candidate.

 

You will:

  • Lead and develop a whole-school approach to behaviour, mental health and wellbeing
  • Oversee and deliver targeted interventions for pupils, including 1:1 and group support
  • Identify early signs of need and make sure timely and effective support is put in place
  • Work closely with staff to build confidence and consistency in supporting behaviour and wellbeing
  • Deliver training to staff
  • Build strong relationships with parents/carers to provide joined-up support
  • Work in partnership with external services (e.g. MHST, CAMHS, local agencies)
  • Analyse behaviour data and contribute to school improvement priorities

 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional and mental health needs
  • Has a strong understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive practice
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff
  • Is calm, resilient and able to respond effectively in challenging situations
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for all pupils
  • Can work collaboratively and contribute to a strong team ethos
