An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an enthusiastic Behaviour Support Worker to join our friendly and hardworking team The successful candidate will work in partnership with the school leaders and the pastoral team.  The role will be varied and you will need to be adaptable and flexible.  There will be opportunities to work within the whole setting, with small groups and on a 1:1 basis with individual pupils.

Experience is preferable, nevertheless, we are a professional learning community and can support a new career journey.

We are looking for someone who will: 

  • Support the delivery of individual or group strategies and interventions to children, allowing them to fully benefit from the educational, personal or social opportunities within the school programme.
  • Support the identification of the needs of each child alongside other professionals. 
  • Support the delivery of appropriate interventions and contribute to assessment and regular reviews.
  • Provide direct personal, practical and pastoral support, in accordance with agreed action plans/programmes to children, who are experiencing personal/social/ educational difficulties.
  • Liaise effectively with parents of pupils to support positive outcomes for the child.
  • Maintain appropriate records in accordance with guidelines, procedures and policies and provide appropriate administrative duties.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Share and model good practice with school staff. 
  • Be able to implement physical intervention techniques if required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Experience of working in schools with children and families, possibly to include special educational needs.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with children and their parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Ability to organise and plan time efficiently, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to deal with challenging situations and work under pressure.
  • Able to make independent judgements and exercise initiative within agreed limits.
  • Knowledge and awareness of factors which may impact a child’s ability to access education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to maintain accurate records and present information clearly and concisely using IT software.

Desirable

  • Ability to see situations from a range of perspectives.
  • Willingness to access further training.
  • To work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to be a good listener who thinks on their feet.
