Job/Person Summary

Park Gate Primary School currently have a vacancy for a Behaviour Support Worker.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and creative person to join our vibrant primary school.

The Behaviour Support Worker will play a critical role within school with the primary objective to facilitate student learning and effectively communicate with others. The successful candidate will have the skills of understanding and resolving issues pertaining to challenging behaviours exhibited by young individuals, steering them towards adopting more constructive habits and enhancing their learning and development.

The range of duties are aimed at promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils and will include; establishing productive working relationships, assisting teaching staff with the development and implementation of Individual Behaviour Plans, delivering specialist programmes to individuals/groups, receiving and supervising children who are working off timetable, assisting pupils to access learning using appropriate strategies and dealing with behavioural and special needs issues in accordance with the Behaviour Management Policy.

The job would also include a lunch duty (30 minutes).

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following skills: 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Empathy and patience
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques 
  • Experience of working with children with additional social and emotional needs
  • Experience of delivering interventions
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills  
  • Ability to challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self esteem
  • Professionally discrete and able to respect confidentiality on particular issues 
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Conflict resolution
  • Team player
