Job Introduction
Our children are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated Site Manager who can join our happy and hardworking team and help us ensure that the school remains a safe, clean and exciting place to learn.
Having an excellent Health and Safety record is important to everyone involved with the school, so our new Site Manager will ideally need to have a good understanding of expectations and regulations and be ready to work with Hampshire’s Caretaking Services to ensure the school meets the highest standards.
Otterbourne is a warm, welcoming and inclusive school with beautiful natural grounds. Here, we celebrate nature but we must also maintain it, so this role is highly suited to someone with a love of the outdoors.
Our new Site Manager will be responsible for the third-party contract cleaners who support the school, and will need to be able to safely undertake minor repairs and routine maintenance. They will also be responsible for overall site safety including unlocking and locking on a daily basis, liaising with contractors and working with staff to understand how they can be supported across the school.
We are looking for someone who will take pride in all that they do at the school so that it remains a welcoming and attractive place for all of our visitors and somewhere our families and wider community are happy to visit.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the security of the site, including daily opening and closing of the school
- Managing and carrying out general maintenance, repairs and improvements
- Monitoring and maintaining heating, lighting and alarm systems
- Ensuring the site complies with health and safety requirements and Hampshire County Council policies
- Managing contractors on site and overseeing planned maintenance schedules
- Conducting regular site inspections and maintaining accurate records
- Supervising cleaning staff and ensuring high standards of cleanliness across the school
- Ordering maintenance supplies and managing the premises budget responsibly
- Supporting the smooth running of school events and activities when required, including on some weekends and late evenings
- Completing all health and safety risk assessments on behalf of the school

- Practical, resourceful and able to carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks
- Organised and able to manage workloads, schedules independently and paperwork effectively
- Committed to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety
- A strong communicator who can work well with staff, contractors and the wider school community
- Positive, approachable and committed to supporting the school’s values
- Willing to undertake relevant training
Previous experience in a similar role and/or a good understanding of building maintenance, compliance and site management is desirable, but not essential—we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills.
