Caretaker

Barton Stacey CE Primary School (part of The Dever Valley Federation) are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated person to join our staff team. This would suit someone who has a range of practical skills and enjoys carrying out small DIY tasks and occasional gardening jobs around the site.The Caretaker will contribute to the day to day operational management of the school, and ensure the safety and security of the school site. 
 
The successful candidate will be able to: 
 
 Take pride in keeping our school safe, welcoming and well maintained

  • Be proactive and show great initiative, with strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Work flexibly to meet the varied needs of a busy school environment
  • Be a valued team player and an active part of our friendly school community
  • Take responsibility for site security as a key holder
  • Carry out a range of repairs, maintenance and practical jobs, ensuring our lighting, heating and facilities run smoothly
  • Support and motivate our cleaning team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the school
  • Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure all aspects of health and safety are fully met
  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion and a strong sense of confidentiality at all times

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a school environment, build positive relationships with the staff and take pride and responsibility for maintaining our school to a high standard
 
Experience is desirable but full training will be available for the successful candidate.

Contract/hours: Fixed term contract with potential to transfer to a permanent contract 
Hours of work: 20 hours per week (ideally as a split shift 7.00-8.30am & 3.30-6.00pm). 52 weeks per year
