Job Person Summary: Class Teacher

Purpose of Role:
 Deliver high-quality teaching in line with national standards and school expectations, supporting all pupils to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach engaging, well-structured lessons.
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet diverse needs.
  • Set high expectations to inspire and challenge pupils.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the wider school community.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and staff appraisal.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Promote and follow safeguarding procedures in line with statutory guidance.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • You have a solid understanding of the National Curriculum and know what effective teaching and learning looks like.
  • You understand how children learn and can adapt your teaching to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • You're confident building positive, supportive relationships with children.
  • You're knowledgeable about safeguarding and committed to keeping children safe.
  • You understand SEND and know how to support pupils with additional needs in a mainstream setting.
  • You manage behaviour effectively and work well as part of a team.
  • You’re confident using ICT to enhance learning in the classroom.

  • You're passionate about helping every child achieve their best and share the values of our school.
  • You set high expectations for yourself and your pupils.
  • You can stay calm and focused under pressure, managing your time and priorities well.
