‘One Family – living life to the full, achieving more together’

Start date September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the highly supportive community that is St Mary’s C of E Junior School. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers, wishing to explore new opportunities, and ECT’s.

St Mary’s Church of England Junior School is a busy, highly inclusive school with a Christian ethos and a family atmosphere. Our values of love, courage and creativity underpin everything we do in school.

Whilst individual excellence is recognised and valued, we believe that through a focus on working together as part of a strong and supportive family, we can all achieve more – academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. We believe in fulfilment and excellence in all aspects of school life. We encourage individuals to be the best version of themselves

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our team and inspire our children.  We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic teacher who can deliver high-quality lessons across the curriculum, ensuring that children are challenged, supported, and motivated to achieve their full potential.

We can offer:

  • A supportive and caring team where staff well-being is foremost.
  • Collaborative working opportunities through year group PPA time supported by your team leader (amounting to more than 10%).
  • PPA time that is covered by specialist music and French teachers.
  • Where appropriate, a personalised ECT programme which exceeds requirements including external courses and a range of support from our highly skilled teaching and learning mentor and opportunities to network with other Hampshire ECTs.
  • On-going training throughout your career including access to a wide range of excellent Hampshire courses, as well as the opportunity to work closely with county subject advisors.
  • A staff structure that supports career progression.
  • A broad and ambitious curriculum that encourages teachers and pupils alike to develop as individuals, as recognised by Ofsted as Outstanding and SIAMS as excellent.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to ensuring every child succeeds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The school itself is located in the heart of the village of Old Basing set in extensive grounds. Its closeness to Basingstoke and the M3 means that we are easily accessible from all parts of Hampshire and neighbouring counties.
