Co Headteacher

Job Introduction

Co‑Headteacher

St Francis Church of England Primary School

St Francis Church of England Primary School is seeking an inspirational Co‑Headteacher to work in partnership with our existing Headteacher as we move into an exciting new phase of development.

We are transitioning from a two‑form entry structure to mixed‑age classes across Years 1–6, and we are looking for a leader who can guide and support our school community through this period of change with clarity, confidence and compassion.

Located in the heart of Valley Park on the outskirts of Chandler’s Ford, St Francis is a voluntary aided Church of England primary school with strong, long‑established links to both the parish church and the wider community. We are proud of our Christian ethos and are committed to nurturing these relationships as we continue to grow.

What we can offer

  • A warm, friendly and welcoming school community
  • The opportunity to join a successful school with positive inspection outcomes and to play a key role in shaping its next chapter
  • A strong Christian ethos, reflected in our recent SIAMS report
  • A close partnership with the neighbouring church, which provides ongoing support to the school
  • Children who are enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn
  • An attractive and engaging learning environment, with rich opportunities for learning beyond the classroom
  • An experienced and dedicated staff team who provide stability and expertise
  • A committed and supportive governing body
  • An active PTA that organises events throughout the year and raises valuable funds for the school

We are looking for a Co‑Headteacher who:

  • Upholds and promotes high standards of teaching and learning
  • Inspires staff and pupils to achieve their very best every day
  • Brings creativity, reflection and motivation to their leadership
  • Leads inclusively and models the values they expect from others
  • Champions the development of the whole child—academically, socially and spiritually
  • Values their own professional growth and uses it to strengthen their leadership

Job Share Arrangement

This opportunity would form part of a job share arrangement with the current Headteacher to satisfy the statutory 1FTE Headteacher requirement. The continuation of this arrangement is dependent upon both Co‑Headteachers remaining in post. If either party’s employment with the school ends, the Governing Body reserves the right to review and amend the contract.
