Communication Support Worker (BSL – L3)
The College is looking to appoint a Communication Support Worker (BSL L3). The successful candidate will provide communication support for learners with a hearing impairment. The successful candidate will be part of the Support for Learning team that delivers responsive and effective support to students with SEND.
The main purpose of the job role is to provide communication support to deaf learners in the classroom. The role includes using a range of communication strategies such as translating spoken English into British Sign Language (BSL) and note-taking.
In addition, the role also includes:
- Supporting learners with a hearing impairment on a 1:1 or small group basis outside of class, assisting with study skills
- Raising deaf awareness around college
- Leading CPD sessions
- Assisting with transition of new students
Contract: Temporary, Term Time only (39 Weeks), 33.75 Hours per week
Salary: £25,276 - £27,747 p/a pro rata, depending on experience (Scale Range 10-13 on Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Pay Scale)
