Working directly with the Senior Deputy Headteacher (also the school’s DSL), you will serve as a trusted source of advice and expertise on child protection matters across the school. You will triage daily concerns, manage statutory referrals, and liaise directly with external agencies - such as Children’s Services, police, CAMHS, and Educational Psychologists - to ensure our young people receive the support they need.
Key Responsibilities
Triage safeguarding concerns via CPOMS, making timely referrals to Children’s Social Care, the police and other supporting agencies as required.
Act as a direct point of contact, advice, and guidance for school staff on child welfare and Family Help interventions.
Represent the school in multi-agency settings, including Child Protection case conferences and Child in Need meetings.
Maintain complete, secure, and accurate safeguarding records in full compliance with GDPR.
Assist in delivering staff briefings and embedding a school-wide culture of listening to children.
What We Are Looking For
Sound working knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and statutory safeguarding frameworks.
Proven track record in school pastoral care or within a multi-agency setting, with experience managing complex safeguarding cases.
Excellent communication, administrative accuracy, strong digital literacy (CPOMS experience desirable), and clear decision-making skills.
High personal resilience, exceptional professional discretion, and a willingness to challenge decisions whenever necessary to protect a vulnerable child.
What We Offer
A supportive and friendly working environment with a range of benefits including opportunities for continued professional development, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, a cycle to work scheme, on-site free parking, a staff wellbeing day per year and access to an Employee Assistance Programme and 24-hour virtual GP service.
