Main purpose
- Support the Head of Maths in leading, developing, and managing the Maths department
- Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the department
- Contribute to the strategic development of Maths within the school
- Model excellent classroom practice
- Deputise for the Head of Maths as required
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Maths curriculum
- Lead on specific areas of Maths, such as assessment, intervention, or enrichment, as agreed with the Head of Maths
- Monitor pupil progress and use data to inform departmental improvement
- Support and challenge staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning
- Organise and deliver CPD for department members
- Support the Head of Maths in the performance management of staff
- Lead department meetings in the absence of the Head of Maths
- Contribute to the creation of a positive, inclusive culture within the department and wider school
- Promote the importance of Maths across the school community
