Job Introduction

Samuel Cody School is looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills and will have the ability to provide outstanding Safeguarding and wellbeing support for all children, particularly for the most vulnerable. You will work closely with the staff, children, parents, and multiple agencies and ensure compliance with KCSIE requirements.

Purpose of the job:

To be the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and take responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school (including online safety and understanding the filtering and monitoring systems in place). To take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, and contribute to the assessment of children.

To advise and support other members of staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police.

Some safeguarding activities may be delegated to deputies, but the DSL will retain ultimate lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection.

To support the HSLW to monitor and report on whole-school attendance data, analysing data to identify key areas of concern. To work closely with pupils, staff, parents and carers to reduce levels of absence, and act appropriately when persistent absence becomes a safeguarding issue.
