Job Introduction
Droxford Junior School is a successful village school set in the Meon Valley. The children here are wonderful and very welcoming.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and effective ELSA, who will join the team and make a real impact across the school.
The post will initially be a fixed term contract for the 2024/25 academic year with a view to becoming permanent. The role would be for one day a week (5.5hrs) which can be agreed with the successful candidate - term time only. There could be the potential option to take on some LSA hours which can be discussed at interview.
The successful applicant will be responsible for liaising with staff and parents in order to provide key, emotional support to identified pupils. Be able self-regulate and develop language and behaviour to not only help themselves but others.
There is a dedicated space for our new ELSA to work with a wealth of resources to hand. Support for pupils will be provided through either a 1:1 basis or through small group work.
We are also willing to put the successful candidate through the ELSA training if necessary.
The successful candidate will also:
- Have GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Mathematics
- Have experience of working with children, preferably in Primary/Junior Schools but other setting experience considered
- Be able to work 1:1 effectively with children
- Be able to use their initiative and be resourceful
- Be a strong team member
- Have patience and strong communication skills
- Have a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
