Early Years Assistant

Job Introduction

We have a rare opportunity to join our friendly early years team as a level 3 qualified Early Years assistant in our Pre-School. We are a successful, term time only teacher led setting for children aged from 2 years 9 months to school age.

We aim to enable children to achieve more than they ever thought possible, providing them with experiences that help to shape their future. This role will involve supporting our Pre-School children to fulfil the expected outcomes of the EYFS and will include being a Key-Worker.

This position is part time, term time only.  The working hours are 16.75 per week (Monday 8.30am-3.30pm, Tuesday 8.30am-3.30pm, Wednesday 8am-11.45am) for 39 weeks per year.


The successful candidate will:

· Hold a level 3 (or above) early years qualification.

· Be creative, organised and passionate about working with children and their families.

· Have experience of supporting children with their learning and development.

· Have experience of supporting children with interaction and communication needs.

· Have excellent communication skills, relating well to children, colleagues and parents.

· Be able to work independently, proactively and with initiative as well as work as part of a team.

· Be confident in the understanding and use of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.

· Be willing to undertake any further training, as required.

· Hold a valid Paediatric First Aid certificate (training will be provided if required).

· Be willing to support the wider early years team in year R, if required.


Role / responsibilities, include:

· Overseeing the development and wellbeing of children within our setting.

· Taking on the role of the Key Person, ensuring that the learning and personal development needs of a group of children are met.

· Working closely with the early years team to create a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment for all our children.

· Planning appropriate support for an individual child’s needs.

· Following confidentiality and safeguarding procedures at all times.
