Job Introduction
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and welcoming team in a varied role. We are seeking a proactive individual to join our Estates Team to help us ensure high standards of maintenance and general repair across the extensive grounds and building which form part of The Perins Multi Academy Trust.
No two days are the same in this position. You could be repainting a classroom, repairing damaged fencing, carrying out gardening work on our extensive grounds, or welcoming guests who have hired our outdoor facilities outside of school hours. By ensuring our facilities are kept in optimum condition, your role will make a positive difference towards the teaching and learning experience of staff and students at both Perins and Sun Hill Junior School.
Shifts operate on a rota system with early shifts (7am - 3.30pm), day shifts (8am - 4.30pm) and late shifts (2.30pm - 10.30pm) including a requirement to work one weekend per month. As such the position attracts an additional 14% shift allowance. (Included in advertised pay rate).
We would like to hear from individuals with skills in carpentry, plumbing, grounds maintenance or painting and decorating. We will also consider applications from people willing to undertake a wide range of in house and specialist training to enhance their practical skills.
As well as using your skills to complete projects, you will also carry out routine tasks as directed by the Deputy Estates Manager or the Facilities and Health and Safety Manager.
Individuals should also be able to work as an effective part of a team, and have good communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- To open the site and prepare for the school day or be responsible for securing and locking the site (depending on shift).
- To complete the daily schedule of activities given by the Deputy Estate Manager
- To assist the Deputy Estate Manager or work unsupervised to carry out horticultural and grounds maintenance operations as required using the appropriate tools and machinery.
- To carry out cleaning as required.
- To organize or carry out any emergency repairs to the buildings to ensure the safety of the users of the site.
- To assist with internal and external improvements and redecoration as required.
- To carry out daily maintenance and cleaning of all plant and equipment in connection with grounds or other work.

Experience working in a similar environment and working on variety of maintenance projects.
Willing to follow instructions.
Have an awareness of health and safety in the workplace.
