Job Introduction

This role is based on working 3 hours per week during term-time with a need of flexibility to meet the requirements of the routine meeting schedules and responding to workstreams to meet statutory requirements

Join Us in Shaping Outstanding Governance

Ludlow Junior School, a successful and ambitious single-academy trust, is seeking a highly organised and knowledgeable Governance Professional to support the effective operation of governance across the Trustee Board and its committees.

This is a pivotal role, ensuring our governance structures are compliant, strategic, and efficient. You’ll work closely with the Chair of trustees and committees, and the Headteacher to provide trusted advice, expert clerking, and timely administrative support.

If you are tenacious, have high expectations and high personal standards this could be the role for you.  You will have an ability to own the role, keep Trustees on track with their statutory obligations and want to be part of the exciting future of Ludlow Junior School.

You will need to have a flexible approach to time as you will need to respond to workstreams to meet statutory requirements and accommodate regular meetings which typically include termly meetings of:

  • 1 x finance, resources, audit and risk sub committee meeting which routinely runs for 1 hour with a 6.30pm start
  • 1 x standards meeting which routinely runs for 1 hour with a 6.30pm start
  • 1 x FGB which routinely runs for 2 hours with a 6.30pm start
  • 1 x annual AGM

You will be confident in communicating well and will have a co-ordinated approach to fulfilling the direct needs of the School Business Manager, the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.

You will be able to demonstrate that you can work under your own initiative and complete tasks to agreed and published deadlines, developing, implementing and co-ordinating an annual calendar.  You will ensure that actions are completed both by yourself and those tasked to others in a timely manner.

You will have a strong desire to work in a school environment, have robust IT skills, be able to understand and follow policies and procedures, have a background in a clerical or administrative post and be able to demonstrate a high standard of efficient and accurate record keeping.

You will have a desire to keep up to date with current legislation, and will show a natural affinity to become familiar, and accomplished with the content of the statutory documents that drive the accountability of the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees, guiding all throughout.  This will involve identifying and booking training as required for the Board, inducting new Board members and supporting ongoing professional development of the Board.

This is an exciting opportunity where you will need to be skilled in supporting colleagues to ensure the very best outcomes for our school - working to secure the brightest future for our pupils and the wider community.

This post is integral to our ongoing whole school journey with an expectation that you will embrace professional development, which will be provided both in-house and externally through Hampshire Governor Services, to become a highly skilled member of the team.
