HLTA or Sports Coach

We are seeking to appoint a HLTA or a Sports Coach. Please read below to find out more about the two different roles.

HLTA

This is an ideal opportunity for a qualified HLTA looking for more opportunities to teach whole classes or an ECT who has not yet secured a teaching post and wants to get more experience. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious HLTA who will cover classes by delivering lessons set by the class teacher.  This might be as part of regular PPA release, management release time or to cover staff absence.

We are happy to work with the successful applicant to tailor the role to work to their strengths or passions. Maybe you are passionate or have a specialism in P.E, music or art?  We would work with you to ensure your timetable included your area of specialism.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has GCSE grades at least C or equivalent in English and Maths;
  • Has experience of working in a primary school;
  • Has experience of covering whole classes within the primary age range;
  • Has the ability to deliver lessons which have been planned by a teacher, to a whole class independently;
  • Is a positive and proactive member of the team;
  • Has good communication and organisation skills;
  • Is able to motivate and engage children;
  • Has a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.

Sports Coach

This is a role for a fully qualified sports coach who will teach P.E to each class on a weekly basis as part of PPA cover and might also support with attendance at sports fixtures.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least a level 2 qualification in the sports that you will be teaching or is a fully qualified teacher;
  • Is a competent teacher of P.E;
  • Has a passion for sport and fitness and is able to motivate and engage children in physical education;
  • Has experience of teaching P.E in a primary school;
  • Is a positive and proactive member of the team;
  • Has good communication and organisation skills;
  • Has a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.

Fixed Term until the end of the academic year 2024-25
