Higher Level Teaching Assistant
St John’s C of E Primary School is a two-form entry school with 383 children on roll.
Our children are engaging and creative learners and the school is actively promoting personalised learning for children and staff alike. We are committed to developing the skills and strengths of the successful candidate.
An opportunity has come about to employ an additional member of support staff at St John’s on a permanent basis. This will be a part time role, hours equating to 27.5 hours per week, term time only. Hours of work to be 8:30am-3pm
We are looking to appoint an experienced HLTA who is patient, caring and empathetic to work with our children. The post will involving working across the whole school leading classroom cover and supporting our children to learn in an environment where they showcase our values of love, courage, respect.
This post is the ideal opportunity to provide experience for a newly-qualified ECT or for somebody who already has the HLTA qualification. Alternatively, this could be an ideal training opportunity for somebody looking for the next step in their career or a graduate with a longer-term view to teacher training. The role involves working closely with the class teaching teams to teach, support and challenge pupils across their primary curriculum.
The person will:
- Be willing to undertake training to develop their own personal skills;
- Be able to work independently under the direction of the class teacher or SENCO;
- Be able to deliver individualised programmes set by other professionals e.g. speech and language programme and occupational therapy support;
They will need:
• Good communication skills
• The ability to use your initiative
• To be able to work as a member of a team.
• Relate well to both adults and children
• Good behaviour management skills
• Understand confidentiality and safeguarding
