Job Introduction

We are looking to appoint a fully qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team to support children and classes across the school, as well as taking on short periods of cover for absent teachers. This will initially be a fixed term role until July 2027 but the possibility of extension will be considered based on the school's needs next year.

St Peter’s CE Junior School is a two-form entry Church of England junior school, close to the centre of Farnborough but on a beautiful, tree-lined site which we share with St Peter’s Church. For a small school, we are lucky to enjoy a range of varied facilities including a dedicated art room, lots of quiet group spaces, a pupil kitchen, and our beautiful library at the centre of the school. Not many state schools can say their library is the original entrance to a Grade-2 listed manor house with hundreds of years of history!

We are looking for a creative, passionate professional to join our friendly church school. We’d love to meet someone who will be an active member of our team as we continue to grow and develop together, striving to offer our children the best experience possible.

In time, the role may evolve to take on PPA cover for the right person. If you have a passion for music, computing, art or another specialism, this could be just the role for you!

The successful candidate will:

The role will involve ad-hoc cover of classes, intervention support, and may grow to include PPA cover.

The role is for 30 hours/week, based on 6 hours per day, 5 days a week, although we would be open to a conversation with the right person wishing to work 4 days. The contract will initially be until the end of the summer term 2027, but may be extended subject to the school's needs in subsequent years.
