Job Introduction
HLTA Vacancy – South Wonston Primary School
South Wonston Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive school that values the contributions of all members of our community. Our core values – nurture, challenge, inspire, and achieve – underpin everything we do. We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team and help deliver engaging and high-quality learning across the school.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children of all ages, is flexible in their approach, and is keen to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning.
The Role:
The HLTA role includes leading learning with whole classes during PPA time, as well as providing targeted support and intervention across the school. You’ll be working with supportive teachers who will plan and guide the learning, and you'll be a valued member of a collaborative team.
We’re looking for someone who is confident, reliable, and ready to grow their skills in a school that values professional development.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold HLTA status or be willing to work towards it with our support.
Have experience working with primary-aged children, ideally across different year groups.
Be calm, nurturing, and consistent in their approach.
Be flexible, proactive, and happy to adapt to different classroom settings.
Enjoy working as part of a team and building strong relationships with children and staff.
Be organised and ready to take on new challenges with a positive mindset.
What We Offer:
A friendly and dedicated team who support one another.
Children who are curious, kind, and excited to learn.
Regular opportunities for training and professional growth.
A beautiful school environment with plenty of space for outdoor learning.
Health and Wellbeing Package:
Full induction to help you settle in confidently.
A school-wide commitment to work-life balance, including an email curfew.
A welcoming staffroom with complimentary tea and coffee.
Join us at South Wonston Primary School, where we nurture potential, inspire aspiration, and foster a love of learning—for both children and staff.
How to Apply:
Please email your application to adminoffice@southwonston.hants.sch.uk by [insert correct deadline date].
We may interview suitable candidates as applications are received, so early submission is encouraged.
We’re excited to welcome a committed and enthusiastic HLTA to our team!
