HR Officer

Job Introduction

Part-Time Position Start Date: July 2025 or earlier if available

Flexible 13 hours per week, term time only. HCC Grade E.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, and organised HR Officer to provide a comprehensive HR administration and advice service.

Job Responsibilities 

Recruitment:

  • Manage recruitment activities.
  • Prepare offer letters, contracts and contractual variation letters.
  • Prepare starter and leaver forms.
  • Carry out pre-employment and post offer references and checks.
  • Support where appropriate on boarding of new staff.
  • Complete the Induction of all new staff joining Danebury

Compliance:

  • Carry out all pre-employment checks including health clearance, check the referral database held by Hampshire County Council and check the NCTL website for other appropriate clearances, retaining copies where necessary.
  • Organise DBS checks for new staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain the Single Central Record (SCR).
  • Maintain a secure HR filing system and archive accurately in accordance with GDPR.
  • Keep clear, comprehensible notes of any meetings or verbal conversations with staff ensure a clear track record of conversations, issues raised, and any action taken.

Payroll:

  • In partnership with the Payroll Officer prepare the monthly payroll by processing any contractual changes and input the monthly pay claims.
  • Work with the Payroll Officer to answer payroll and pension queries.
  • Send out pension related auto enrolment letters to staff.

General 

  • To work as part of the HR team to implement the ITrent HR system.
  • To amend staff personal details including contractual changes in Arbor.
  • Oversee staff attendance and absence monitoring, advising and supporting managers as necessary.
  • Act as a point of contact for staff and managers providing generic advice for operational HR issues, escalating to the HR Business Partner as necessary.
  • Support the HR team during ‘pinch points’ (payroll/recruitment deadlines).

Professional Development

  • Undertake appropriate and regular training and development to maintain knowledge and improve practice.
  • Attend briefings and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in regular performance management for self and others as appropriate
  • To engage with staff development opportunities.
