This position would suit an aspiring Middle Leader seeking their first Head of Department role or an established leader looking for a new challenge. For the right candidate, there will be opportunities to contribute to wider school leadership and strategic development. 

The Geography Department consists of a dedicated team of experienced staff who are passionate about delivering a stimulating and engaging curriculum. Geography is a popular subject at Key Stage 4 and students currently follow the AQA GCSE specification. The department benefits from specialist teaching rooms within the Humanities faculty and places a strong emphasis on developing geographical knowledge, fieldwork experiences and critical thinking skills. 

We are seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking Head of Geography who can continue to build on the department's strengths while driving further improvement. The successful candidate will have a clear vision for curriculum development, a passion for high-quality inclusive teaching and learning, and the ability to inspire both staff and students. They will be committed to ensuring that every student is challenged and supported to achieve their full potential. 

As Head of Geography, you will:

• Lead and develop an ambitious, knowledge-rich Geography curriculum across all key stages.
• Drive high standards of teaching, learning and achievement within the department.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure all learners achieve their potential.
• Develop and support colleagues through effective leadership, coaching and collaboration.
• Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusivity and continuous improvement.
• Further develop enrichment opportunities, including fieldwork and wider curriculum experiences.
• Contribute to the strategic development of wider school improvement priorities.

• Demonstrates strong leadership potential or successful middle leadership experience.
• Is solution-focused, resilient and able to work collaboratively with colleagues.

• Is committed to continual professional development and school improvement.
