We are looking to appoint a talented individual to step into the Head of School position, providing strong and effective leadership within a specialist environment. The successful candidate will support in delivering our unique curriculum and further develop our positive learning environment to meet a range of pupil needs.
About us:
We believe Waterloo School is a very special place. It is one of two maintained primary schools in Hampshire that support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. We have spaces for up to seventy-four pupils organised into eight classes. All pupils have Educational Health Care Plans. We are proud of our achievements, and our pupils thrive in small teaching groups and a supportive learning environment
The main purpose of the role:
As the Head of School, you will take a leadership role in assisting the Executive Headteacher. Closely working alongside the Head of School at our other site in Gosport, seek to develop the school in accordance with its shared values and school development plans.
Key responsibilities
- be responsible for, under the direction of, and in consultation with, the Executive Headteacher, the overall day to day operational management and leadership of the school.
- provide vision, leadership and direction which are focused on continuous school improvement.
- effective working relationship with the Executive Headteacher, leadership team and all staff.
- seek strategies through which to achieve the agreed and shared vision of the school, leading by example particularly in respect of all aspects of teaching and learning and ensuring equality of opportunity for all.
Who we are looking for
You will be a credible, values-driven leader with a successful track record at senior level within the education sector. You will bring strong experience of leading teams and supporting children and young people with a wide variety of additional needs.
You will also offer:
- Strong understanding of SEND, safeguarding and relevant legislation
- Proven ability to lead teams through change and improvement
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills
- Resilience, professionalism and a genuine commitment to inclusive education
- Experience of leading different teams is desirable but not essential.
