Inspire. Restore. Achieve.

The Bridge Education Centre (BEC), located in Eastleigh, Hampshire, is a local authority–maintained Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) educating pupils aged 11–16 who require additional support. We work with pupils who have experienced disrupted education, social or emotional barriers to learning, or who are or at risk of or permanent exclusion. We are proud of the strong relationships we build with pupils, families, and schools across Hampshire. Our mission is to ensure that every young person feels valued, supported, and able to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our Core Principles

  • Unconditional Positive Regard
  • High Expectations
  • Academic Excellence
  • Therapeutic Understanding
  • Restorative Teaching Approach to Behaviour
  • Cross‑Team Collaboration

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Headteacher who can lead with integrity, compassion, and ambition. Someone who can maintain our highly relational culture while driving forward high-quality provision and sustainable improvement.

Are you someone who can:

  • Drive a financially sustainable model,
  • Strengthen our intervention and inclusion work,
  • Drive an ambitious academic, active and therapeutic curriculum,
  • And build a culture of collaboration with parents, mainstream schools, local headteachers, multi‑agency professionals and the Hampshire community?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A leadership style rooted in unconditional positive regard, relational practice, and high expectations for every pupil with a commitment to inclusive, trauma‑informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Significant recent experience as a Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher, with evidence of impact in key areas of whole-school leadership.
  • Experience improving outcomes for pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or disrupted education.
  • Strong track record of leading teams and building effective partnerships.

Why Lead at BEC?

At The Bridge Education Centre, you will lead a highly committed team who believe in developing the potential of every pupil. Our staff value collaborative working, reflective practice, and a culture of trust and respect. You will have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of our pupils, many of whom have not yet had the chance to experience success in education.

Visits & Application

We encourage visits to BEC so that you can meet our staff, see our provision in action, and get a feel for our ethos. To arrange a visit or request an application pack, please contact Helen Taylor at the school to arrange a visit: htaylor@bec.hants.sch.uk.

Equality Monitoring

All applications will be required to complete an Equality Monitoring form which is located below on the advert webpage.
