Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, resourceful and conscientious HLTA who wants to make a positive impact on pupil progress. The successful applicant will cover classes by delivering lessons set by the class teacher.  This might be as part of regular PPA release, management release time or staff absence. There may also be some opportunities to deliver small group inventions.

This is an ideal opportunity for a qualified HLTA or an ECT who has not yet secured a post.

Orchard Lea Junior school is federated with Orchard Lea Infant school. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has GCSE grades at least C or equivalent in English and Maths;
  • Has experience of working in a primary school;
  • Has experience of covering whole classes within the primary age range
  • Has the ability to deliver lessons that have been planned by a teacher, to a whole class independently
  • Is  a positive and proactive member of the team
  • Has good communication and organisation skills
  • Is able to motivate and engage children;
  • Is able to use their initiative and be resourceful;
  • Works well as part of a team;
  • Has a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
