Home School Link Worker (HSLW)

Kings Furlong Junior School, Basingstoke

Salary: Grade E 

Hours: 37.5 hours 
Contract: Fixed term
Start date: 1st September 2026 (or sooner to support transition) 

 

Kings Furlong Junior School is seeking to appoint a dedicated Home School Link Worker to work closely with children, families and staff to support wellbeing, attendance and engagement with school life.

This is a vital role within our pastoral team, working preventatively with families to provide early intervention, guidance and support, particularly at times of change or difficulty.

 

As our Home School Link Worker, you will:

  • Work in partnership with families, pupils and staff to provide early intervention and behaviour support
  • Build strong, positive relationships with families to improve communication and engagement with school
  • Support families to access services, information and external agencies
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes, including identifying concerns and supporting referrals as a trained DDSL 
  • Support attendance and punctuality through monitoring and family engagement 
  • Participate in Early Help and Team Around the Family (TAF) processes 
  • Provide direct support to children and families, including parenting guidance, emotional support and practical advice 
  • Maintain clear records, monitor impact and contribute to evaluation and reporting 

 

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience working with children and families, particularly in challenging or vulnerable circumstances
  • Is able to build trusting, professional relationships with parents and carers
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is organised and able to manage a varied caseload
  • Has a good understanding of safeguarding, early help and multi-agency working
  • Is calm, empathetic and resilient, with a commitment to improving outcomes for children

 

Experience of working in a school or educational setting would be desirable.
