Interventions Teacher-Gosport Site

Job Introduction

Intervention Teacher 0.8 Gosport

The Key Education Centres provide alternative provisions for pupils aged 11—16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools alongside pupils who are referred to us for medical reasons/emotional vulnerability. Our cohort is a dynamic and diverse group of young people who respond really well to the additional support that we are able to provide through smaller classes and our relational approach which is rooted in Attachment and Trauma informed practice. We pride ourselves on providing experiences beyond those of the traditional curriculum alongside providing them with the skills needed to succeed in life beyond The Key.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative teaching practitioner to support the delivery of interventions on the Gosport site. This post will have a 50% allocation of classroom teaching (all specialisms welcome) alongside 50% allocation of small group or 1:1 intervention that will predominantly focus on supporting pupils’ literacy development and ability to access their learning across all subjects whilst and may include work around numeracy and wider ‘catch up’.

The candidate will be committed to providing a consistently excellent provision for pupils – many of whom have significant learning needs and/or learning gaps alongside other barriers to learning.  Successful applicants will be expected to design and deliver intervention lessons across the centre, aimed at closing the gaps some pupils have and will also demonstrate a confident understanding of emerging pedagogy, competency in data analysis and will be able to respond effectively to the unproductive behaviour exhibited by some of our most vulnerable pupils. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated and dedicated colleague to join The Key Gosport’s teaching team.
