Job Introduction
Whiteley Primary School are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Outstanding team as a specialist French teacher. This is a permanent position, for 4 afternoons per week (Tues-Fri) teaching our KS2 classes. (An additional 1/2 day may be negotiable for a candidate with the relevant skills and experience to provide cover for other teachers across the school - this is not essential to the role.)
We are looking for a person who
- has a recognised qualification in French or considerable experience of the language (e.g. native speaker, considerable time spent living in France etc.)
- has experience of delivering French tuition in a lively and multi-sensory way;
- is committed to promoting a love of languages as well as maintaining a focus on high standards;
- is a good team player, but who can also work under their own initiative and take responsibility for developing French across the school;
- is able to promote positive behaviour and be flexible in order to meet pupils' needs.
We would like to appoint someone with experience of the primary age range. However, we also welcome applications from those with a secondary teaching background who can demonstrate that they are able to adapt their practice accordingly. We would also consider appointing an unqualified teacher who has the necessary skills and experience. The position is available from Sept 2026 (or as soon as possible after this date).
