KS2 Learning Support Assistant

Job Introduction

Together We Achieve

Are you passionate about helping children achieve their very best? Do you have the enthusiasm, patience and commitment to make a real difference to children's learning and development?

Knights Enham Schools are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our friendly and supportive team at Knights Enham Junior School.

The successful candidate will predominantly work within Year 3 and Year 4, supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 2. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, building positive relationships and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

The position is initially offered on a fixed-term basis for the remainder of the 2026/27 academic year, to provide additional classroom support during a period of staff absence. There is, however, the potential for this role to become permanent from September 2027.

The role

Working alongside class teachers and other members of the support team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support within the classroom to help pupils access learning and achieve their potential.

  • Supporting teachers and other adults in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

  • Leading small-group interventions to address gaps in learning and develop pupils' knowledge and understanding.

  • Providing targeted one-to-one support for pupils who require additional assistance.

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, adapting approaches to meet individual learning requirements.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, confidence and resilience.

  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

  • Contributing to the wider life of the school and working collaboratively as part of a team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.

  • Be caring, patient, approachable and enthusiastic.

  • Have high expectations of themselves and the children they support.

  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.

  • Demonstrate initiative and flexibility, responding to the changing needs of the classroom.

  • Be confident supporting children individually and in small groups.

  • Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Previous experience working in a primary school or supporting children with additional needs would be advantageous, although we are equally interested in individuals who demonstrate the right attitude, commitment and enthusiasm.

Why join Knights Enham Schools?
