Learning Support Assistant - Fixed Term until August 2027 - Mornings only

Job Introduction

Hatch Warren Junior School is a vibrant three-form entry school serving the Hatch Warren community in Basingstoke. We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our supportive and hardworking team. This role involves working closely with children and sometimes supporting children outside of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality support tailored to the children's individual needs.
  • Deliver learning activities that enable access to the planned curriculum.
  • Encourage social development and positive peer interactions.
  • Support the development of social and self-help skills.
  • Apply a range of positive behaviour management strategies effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher for guidance and planning.
  • Contribute to regular reviews and Individual Education Plans/EHCPs alongside the SENDCo.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Demonstrates a professional approach and a commitment to making a positive impact.
  • Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possesses strong literacy and numeracy skills suitable for a Junior school setting.
  • Works effectively as part of a team, showing initiative and flexibility.
  • Is caring, compassionate, and resilient.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children.
  • Knowledge of SEND and strategies to overcome learning barriers.
  • Experience delivering interventions and completing assessments.

Note: We currently have an afternoons-only ELSA position (1:15–3:30 pm) advertised. If you are a qualified ELSA, this role could be combined with the LSA position. Please indicate on the Application Form if you would like to be considered for both roles.
