Learning Support Assistant
The Key Education Centres provide alternative provisions for pupils aged 11—16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools. In September 2019, The Key Education Centre in Gosport is part of a ‘two-school’ site and we have a partner school in Havant. This post is for our Gosport Site. Our provisions pride themselves on being abreast of current pedagogy and our work around attachment-focused and trauma informed practice is a fundamental part of our work in engaging pupils in learning experiences beyond those of the traditional curriculum alongside providing them with the skills needed to succeed in life beyond The Key and in modern Britain.
We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who has a genuine interest in supporting our pupils and improving their life chances. The post is for 35 hours per week but we are open to being flexible to when these are worked to support individual circumstances. The post holder will be involved in 1:1 and small group work. Applicants must be flexible, able to show initiative, quick-thinking, calm under pressure, determined and resilient.
We are looking for applicants who:
Have a good standard of English and Maths
Are calm, caring and patient
Are able to work on their own and as part of a team
Prioritise safeguarding
Whilst previous experience would be an advantage, our priority is an individual who is able to build good relationships with the children. You will be able to positively manage their behaviour and individual needs, helping them to access their learning environment effectively.
