Learning Support Assistant KS1/KS2

Job Introduction

We are seeking to appoint an experienced learning support assistant who has a passion for working with children in a primary school. Experience in EYFS and SEN is desired but not essential. It is important for the successful candidate to show empathy, resilience, initiative, dedication to our pupils and a good sense of humour.

This role will include working 1:1 with children with SEND, small group intervention work and general classroom support. It is important that

  • Experience of complex behavioral needs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A good sense of humour
  • High expectations of learning
  • The ability to work independently and pro-actively
  • Be patient, calm, well organised and understanding
  • Have energy, commitment and enthusiasm
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children
  • Experience in SEND preferable but not essential 

Duties

  • Work with individuals or groups of children, assisting in adapting resources/tasks to enable pupils to access learning (in conjunction with the teacher)
  • Help implement lesson plans
  • Assist with testing and assessment
  • Review progress against learning intervention programmes
  • Work alongside outside agencies and implementing advice
  • Some playtime/lunchtime supervision
