We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract, working primarily with pupils in Year 5/6.
This role will involve supporting teaching and learning within the classroom, working with individuals and small groups, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning so they can achieve their best. If you have the ability to engage, inspire and motivate children, along with a positive outlook and a good sense of humour, we would love to hear from you.
The successful candidate will:
· Have previous successful experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs in a primary school setting. Experience in Year 5 and 6 is desirable.
· Have a good subject knowledge to support children in Upper Key Stage 2 or be prepared to develop this.
· Be able to plan appropriate support for a range of learning and emotional needs.
· Be able to work independently and use initiative effectively.
· Demonstrate dedication, empathy, patience and resilience.
· Have high expectations for the progress, attainment and personal development of all children.
· Be able to develop pupil independence and self-help skills.
· Have a positive, can do attitude, working effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
· Have a willingness and ability to work across the primary phase when needed.
· Have a willingness and ability to support a wide range of pupil needs, including medical and care needs.
· Have excellent communication skills and build positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
· Be able to manage pupils with a calm, positive and nurturing approach.
