Job Introduction
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team and play a key role in supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) across the lower school.
This is a structured and highly rewarding role, combining small-group teaching and targeted intervention. You will deliver focused teaching in core subjects during the morning for pupils working significantly below age-related expectations, and lead pre-teaching, overlearning, and gap-closing interventions in the afternoon.
Your work will be central to helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and make measurable progress towards their individual targets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering structured small-group teaching in English, maths, and reading, following guidance from the Phase Leader;
- Adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs;
- Leading targeted afternoon interventions (1:1 and small group), including pre-teaching and overlearning;
- Creating a nurturing environment that supports both academic progress and emotional wellbeing;
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress against EHCP outcomes and intervention targets;
- You will also work in partnership with external professionals and play a full part in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with primary-aged pupils, ideally including those with SEND or EHCPs;
- Is confident delivering small-group and/or 1:1 intervention;
- Is patient, nurturing, and committed to inclusion;
- Can adapt learning to meet a range of needs;
- Works effectively as part of a team and communicates well with staff and pupils;
In return, we offer:
- A supportive and inclusive school community
- Opportunities for professional development and training
- The chance to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ learning and wellbeing
- A rewarding and varied role within a committed team
