Job Introduction
Vacancy: Learning Support Assistant
Part Time - 26 hours per week (8.30-3.30 with a 30 minute break and 30 minute lunch duty)
EHCC Grade B/C - Dependent on experience
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our friendly school to join our highly valued support staff team. We are looking for a flexible, child-centred professional with a ‘can do’ outlook to work in our forward-thinking, inclusive primary school.
The role will be based in KS1 or KS2, although support staff members are used flexibly across the school. We are ideally looking for someone with experience of working as an LSA in a school setting, directly supporting children’s learning and positive pupil engagement in lessons. The role would be a mixture of supporting children’s learning and progress in the class during lessons, and working proactively to deliver interventions and small group or 1:1 work at other times, as directed by teachers. You would be expected to use a high level of questioning, ongoing assessment and feedback to support children’s progress. A core element of the role is supporting our children with special educational needs, both in terms of learning and also those with social and emotional needs, and so excellent behaviour management skills are needed, balanced with empathy and caring.
This role also involves supporting pupils in our After School Club provision.
We strongly believe in professional development for all, and invest significantly in the training and development of our support staff team, so that they can do their very best for the children at Wellstead.
The salary offered is Grade B/C and is dependent on experience.
It is important to us that we recruit someone who believes in our school ethos of “Sowing the Seeds of Success” and works hard to demonstrate our core values:
Respectful, Reflective, Aspirational, Independent, Collaborative and Adaptable.
