Job Introduction
The Butts Primary School is looking for hard-working, passionate and dedicated adults to work alongside our friendly and supportive team starting in January 2025. We particularly need a Learning Support Assistant to join our Key Stage 2 team carrying out a variety of roles, from supporting individuals to working with small groups or working with the class teacher to support pupils in class.
At The Butts Primary School, we aim to secure outstanding outcomes for all of our pupils, and so are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:
- has a passion for working with children, and helping them improve in character through developing their resilience and mindset as well as in qualification;
- is flexible, energetic, resilient and committed to working with all children including those who may need higher levels of support in order to learn;
- values the importance of children learning in an outdoor environment during all seasons
- has the creativity to design activities for the year group to encourage this and engage children;
- ideally has knowledge of phonics, although training can be given
- knows and is interested in how children learn;
- uses their initiative to bring the best out in children;
- knows the importance of keeping children safe;
- has high expectations for themselves and their pupils;
- is a team player, able to inspire and work in partnership with staff, parents and pupils.
Our Learning Support Assistants work in close partnership with class teachers and our Inclusion Leader (SENDCo) to promote learning for all children. Some experience of working on intervention programmes with individuals and small groups of children would be of benefit.
Candidates will be expected to work Monday to Friday during term time to provide continuity for the children. Working hours are 8.30am to 3.30pm and will include lunchtime supervisor duties.
Previous experience in working in schools would be advantageous but not essential.
