We require an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking school. You will be working in collaboration with the SENDCo and class teacher to support a child with an EHCP and are looking for a colleague who can provide support in addressing their needs to overcome barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential.
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are keen to learn, have a positive, ‘sunshine’ attitude, excellent communication skills with both adults and children, patience (lots of!), and be able to and enjoy working as part of a team.
We appreciate that the experience required to work with children with additional needs can be gained from life experiences and / or qualifications. We are genuinely open to your application and are happy to answer any questions you may have, or to show you around our school prior to the interview date if you wish.
We are looking for a colleague who:
- Really gets children and can see the world through their eyes
- Can communicate effectively with children and understand how to offer them security
- Understands and has worked with the Zone of Regulation
- Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning behaviours
- Provide pastoral support to children
- Can give children feedback and next steps to help them learn
- Quickly takes on board information and communicates with confidentiality and empathy
- Puts the needs of the children first when making decisions
- Is able to work under their own initiative, modifying and adapting activity
- Can communicate highly effectively with colleagues and the wider school community
- Holds, or is working towards, the NVQ level 3 in Learning support, play work or an equivalent or higher qualification
- Can use IT to improve the learning experience of children
- Has experience of working in a Primary School or other setting with children
- Has GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (Grade C/4)
