We are offering an exciting opportunity to join The Hamble School during a period of rapid improvement and change. Our intake numbers are increasing – we currently have 1170 students and are looking to expand our staffing further.
We have a new enhanced SEND provision and Inclusion department. The provision operates as part of a wider curriculum offering support for students who are unable to access the mainstream curriculum across 3 newly designed rooms and interventions.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work in our SEND Department to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs at KS3/KS4 in a mainstream school. The post holder will work with students who have learning, social and physical difficulties and support them across the curriculum. The ideal candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm, resilience, initiative, good time management, patience and a passion for working with and assisting young people to learn.
Applicants must have proven literacy and numeracy skills, equivalent to GCSE Grade C and above. Written communication must be a particular strength. Experience of working in a secondary school would be advantageous as would experience of working with students with communication and language issues and disabilities. Applicants must be willing to attend manual handling training and specific training to meet individual student needs.
